With the love of her children, on Sunday morning, November 9, 2025 Evelyn Ogibowski (Chastko) age 82 took her final steps to be reunited with her beloved “Tony".
Leaving to mourn her passing are her children, spouses and grandchildren and great-grandchild, Roy/Kim (Vanessa, Monica/Derek/Beau, Nicholas, Nick and Kate), Angela/Steven (Josh and Ben), Anita/Jeff (Madison and Meagan), Tammy/Kyle (Paisley).
Evelyn was born August 27, 1943 to Joe/Margarett (Duchminsky) Chastko on the family farm near Jackfish Lake, MB. She left the farm at age 17 and travelled to Toronto to work for an oil company. She returned to Manitoba. Prior to marrying Tony in 1965 she worked for Marshall Wells, and the provincial government. Evelyn affectionately became known as “Evy” after she started to provide care for children from the neighbourhood. She ended her work life with Ludwick Catering.
Tony and Evelyn set down their roots on Hoddinott Road in East St Paul. Evelyn loved puzzles, reading, gardening and crocheting. She volunteered with Heart and Stroke and the local figure skating and community club.
Family was extremely important to her and she especially cherished her role as Baba to her grandkids. She loved when company would drop by for a cup of coffee and could always find a bite of something to share with good conversation. She will be deeply missed.
The family would like to thank the staff at Residence Despins and Riverview Health Centre for their caring and compassionate support of both Evelyn and the family.
As per Evelyn’s wishes, cremation has taken place and, as her and Tony wished, a single joint Celebration of Life will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at the East St. Paul Banquet Hall (266 Hoddinott Rd.)

I had the pleasure of having Evelyn as a homecare client. She was a wonderful lady and we would talk about crocheting as I crochet too. I missed her when she left Transcona. I am sorry to hear about her passing. She will be truly missed. Rest in Peace Evelyn. Dance with Tony. My deepest condolences to the family. Take care. - Posted by: Audra (Homecare in Transcona) on: Dec 09, 2025
