Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHIE VAN DUSEN
Cathie always joked she wanted her obituary to simply say:
“Cathie Died.”
Here’s a bit more.
Cathie was born in Winnipeg and passed away peacefully December 14, 2025, at Deer Lodge Centre surrounded by loved ones with her favourite music playing.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 61 years, Lloyd Van Dusen; her son Jim (Lora); and her cherished grandchildren, Nena, Tawnya (Luke), and Julian. She is also lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, including Barb (Merlin), Gord (Darcey), Andy (Mindy), Patricia (John), and Catherine (Chris).
Cathie was predeceased by her sisters, Georgina (Norm) and Bette (Al); her brother Charlie (Eleanor); and her grandson Ashton.
Cathie had a full, happy life of service and caring and will be missed by many good friends and neighbours.
A celebration of life will be held on January 17, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at McClure United Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Deer Lodge Centre Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

I met Cathy around 1960 (my mind is a bit fuzzy but I think it was around that year). Cathy worked in the Grain Exchange Building on Lombard and I worked for Northern Sales. We met at the local restaurant on Lombard Avenue and became best friends (which included my sister Beverley who worked for McCabe Grain). Cathy had an incredible sense of humour and was so much fun that we became fast friends. I married my husband in 1963 and Cathy was one of my bridesmaids. I have a beautiful picture of Cathy in my wedding photos. I'm sorry we lost touch through the years but have so many wonderful memories of Cathy. RIP Cathy. - Posted by: Gail Morlock (Friend) on: Jan 08, 2026

I grew up on Davidson st and was the babysitter for Jimmy. Cathy was very kind to me and I was her little companion, having many lunches at her house. She was a great neighbor and danced at my wedding. Colleen - Posted by: Colleen Molter (Neighbor) on: Jan 03, 2026
