It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Carmen Carol Chown, on January 20, 2026, in Brandon, MB.
Carmen was born in Brandon to Margaret and Walter Crossman on November 2, 1957. Her lifelong career was in health care. First in Laundry and then as a health care aid at the Brandon Mental Hospital. Her last position at Rideau Park took her into retirement.
Carmen met the love of her life Ken Chown and married on October 9, 1976. Together they shared many enjoyable warm vacations and summers at their cabin at Oak Lake.
Over the years Carmen kept busy with life and enjoyed bowling, golfing, and volunteering at the Nearly New Shop, she took pride in gardening and showcasing plants and flowers at home and the lake. Travelling for a destination trip or just local road trips for an afternoon was always up her alley, you never know what you could find.
Carmen loved animals which therefore led to a few memorable pets in her life; Monty, Carrie, Teesha, and Raffi.
Carmen is survived by her beloved husband Ken, her sisters-in-law Carol Wazney, Janis Clark, and Cheryl Chown. Several nieces, nephews, and close friends
Carmen is pre-deceased by her parents Margaret and Walter, mother-in-law Sophie Chown, sister Lillian Groskoff, brothers-in-law Vern Groskoff, Ron Chown, Ray Wazney, and Wayne Clark.
A service will be held April 10, 2026, at 2: 00 p.m. at Memories Chapel, Brandon MB, 330-18th Street North.
