SHARON LOUISE BILINSKI

(nee VANDERSTEEN)

December 1, 1953 - January 24, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Sharon Bilinski on January 24, 2026, at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, following a brief illness.

Born on December 1, 1953, in Fisher Branch, Manitoba, Sharon grew up with the hardworking values of the farm before making her home in Winnipeg’s North End. It was there she built a beautiful life centred on family and community. For 25 years, Sharon was a familiar and friendly face at Lord Nelson Elementary School, where she served as a lunch-hour supervisor, keeping a watchful, caring eye on the students there.

Sharon found immense joy in the simple treasures of life. She was an avid collector of memories, meticulously filling scrapbooks with cards and newspaper clippings, and took great pride in her extensive and whimsical salt-and-pepper shaker collection. Whether she was rolling dice or dealing a hand of cards, her competitive spirit was always matched by her laughter. For many people, the highlight of their year was Sharon’s phone call on their birthday.

Above all, Sharon believed that every day was a gift worth celebrating. She lived with a sparkle that she encouraged others to share. In her honour, the family asks that you take one day to remember her - do your nails all fancy, wear your favourite pieces of jewellery, and perhaps even don a sparkly tiara - as she would want us to treat life as a special occasion.

Sharon has been reunited in Heaven with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, as well as her beloved parents, Bert and Lea VanDerSteen; her sister, Connie Traa; brothers-in-law, Donnie and Johnny and Joe Wagner; sisters-in-law, MaryAnne and Marlene; and her mother and father-in-law, Helen and Stanley Bilinski.

Her legacy of love lives on through her devoted husband of 53 years, Mike; her children, Brad (partner Jenn), and twin daughters, Rebekah and Rachel; and her cherished grandchildren, Austin and Rylynn. She will be deeply missed by her siblings, Linda (Lester) Troschuk, Carol (Melvin) Bilinski, Glenda (Greg) Shaw, Gail (Gary) Kochan, David (Tania) VanDerSteen, Debbie (Ron) Johnson; brother-in-law Dennis Traa; in-laws, Paul, Stan (Marie), Liz, Tanis, Nancy (Phil), Phil (Bev) and Debbie (Andy); along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Also, special life-long friends, Jack and Jaqueline Puranen.

In accordance with Sharon’s wishes, immediate cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.

She is now sparkling

in the presence of the Lord
