MILLIE (MILDRED) MARY DILLER

May 14, 1942 - March 2, 2026

Millie Diller passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on March 2, 2026 at the age of 83 years.

Millie was predeceased by her parents, Andy and Joyce Diller; her brothers Leon Diller and Ron Diller; her sister Carol Jacks; and her brother-in-law Barry Jacks.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law Gail Diller; nieces Sherry Jacks and Allison Diller; nephews Shawn (Julie) Jacks, Jason (Linda) Diller, and Brett Diller. Millie was also cherished by 11 great-nieces and nephews and 6 great-great-nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Brandon, Millie attended several schools including Central, Fleming, Park, Earl Oxford, and Brandon Collegiate.

At age 11, Millie contracted bulbospinal polio after the school year began. As ambulances were unavailable, she was transported to Winnipeg in Brockie Donovan's hearse where she spent nine months in Hospital, including her first month in an iron lung. After a long recovery, Millie became a graduate of the first class of Vincent Massey high school.

Refusing to let polio define her path, she completed a General Commercial Course at St. Michael's Academy and went on to enjoy a 40-year career as a legal assistant, serving six different law firms before her retirement.

Millie truly loved her home at Village Green, where she cherished the wonderful people and strong sense of community that surrounded her. She took great pride in being involved, serving on the library committee and the condominium board.

Despite lifelong health challenges, including post-polio syndrome, Millie never allowed this to dampen her spirit, She will be remembered for her resilience, her warm spirit, and the love she shared with her family and friends.

Special thanks to health care staff at the Assiniboine centre, all the friends who supported her throughout the years, the many medical staff for their support and guidance and Brockie Donavan for her final care.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Millie may be made to the Terry Fox Foundation or the Canadian Lung Association.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
