ELIZABETH CHISHOLM

Peacefully and with grace, Betty passed away in late afternoon March 25, 2026.

Our mom leaves her three children, Rick, Bob and Kelli; grandchildren, Chris (Jannelle), Cody (Brandon), Mikael and Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Emily, Harleigh, Oaklee and Brexley. Her beloved nephew and nieces, Steven and Christine (Mark), Shawna and Kim along with their families; her sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Percy) and Heather also mark her passing with love. Mom was predeceased by her mother and father, brother Jim (Mary-Lou), and her daughters-in-law, Jaris and Cindy. Dad passed away in 2014 and he and Mom are together again.

Mom grew up in Etobicoke, Ontario in the red brick house on Ash Crescent. Her heart returned there in her last years and memories of our time there are precious. She was a beautiful and loving soul who crafted a home for us, took us on adventures near and far, planned and executed so many birthday parties, family dinners and celebrations, loved and laughed with her card group, chronicled our lives meticulously and taught us the value of family and remaining connected to people no matter the distance.

Mom had many friends and friendships that spanned decades. Helen, Fran, Mary Ann, Gloria, Elaine and Bev are women who shared many laughs, good times, family get togethers, and certainly moments of mischief with her. Mom’s childhood friend, Bonnie, has been a constant in her life and ours. They shared a bond since childhood that never wavered or weakened. Bonnie and Mom were a force; connected in childhood, through teenage years, falling in love years, weddings, motherhood, empty nest eras and right up to the present. Her friends gave her love and support each in their own way and her friendships are yet more examples of Mom’s sense of devotion, as well as her caring and fun sides of her personality.

She was graceful yet feisty and lived her life with integrity. Mom was a beauty queen, literally and figuratively. Our lives were enriched and made whole because of her, in so many ways. Family was her focus and she believed in all three of us, letting us make our own decisions while always being there for us.

We thank her caregivers at Poseidon Care Home for their love and compassion they gave to her these past few years.

A celebration of her life will take place at a later date, in the warmer, sunny days ahead. For those who wish and are able, a donation to a charity of your choice is appreciated.

Rest in peace Mom.

We will continue to honour your memory in the spring when tulips bloom, the summer when warm breezes pass over, the fall when the leaves turn brilliant colours, and in the winter when the world turns to a winter wonderland.

We love you Mom.
