Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCAROL ANNE MAKI
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Carol Anne Maki (nee Cupedro), aged 78, in Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba on March 11, 2026.
Carol was born on December 23, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, attended school in Parma, Ohio, and started a family in Newaygo, Michigan. She moved to Canada in 1990, was proud to become a Canadian citizen alongside her son and daughter in 2012, and called Marchand and Lac du Bonnet home for the remainder of her life.
In her spare time, Carol enjoyed reading, crafting, gardening, baking, and cooking; her golumpki were a family favourite and the hummingbirds flocked to her feeders. She had a witty sense of humour, and it brought her great joy to wreak a little havoc with willing accomplices. Carol excelled at the many roles she took on throughout her lifetime, but she especially loved: her family and friends (much more than words could ever express); playing cards with anyone who was willing to challenge her to a hand or two; serenading loved ones with her special rendition of happy birthday; watching the birds and other wildlife from her window; and a clean sink.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Carrie and Mike Johnston and Jeremy and Allison Maki; her grandchildren: Xena (Michael), Jaden, Caz, Alicia, Xander, and Brooklyn; her great-grandchild, Ella; her (older) sister, Dolores Reinhardt; sister-in-law, Juanita Cupedro; and her many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and family friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Sophie and Benjamin (Sr.) Cupedro, and her brother, Benjamin (Jr.) Cupedro.
At Carol’s request, there will not be a funeral service; instead, she asked that people take a moment to watch the birds or plant some flowers in her memory.
