Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORRAINE ANNE HERCUS
Peacefully on April 3, 2026, Lorraine Anne Hercus passed after a rapid decline over the last few weeks.
She leaves to mourn, daughter Aileen George, grandchildren, Lianne Derlein (Andy), Vanessa George (Lindsay), Michael George, great-grandchildren, Madison, Jody, and Octavia and many beloved extended family members and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Stella Joba (Ladoski), 2004, and Anton Joba,1989, and daughter Tammy McNichol, 2025.
Lorraine fondly remembered her years growing up in Bissett, Manitoba and other homes in Elliot Lake, Toronto, and Halifax, finally settling in Winnipeg in 1962. Her favourite home away from home was the family cottage in Pointe du Bois. Growing up, Lorraine learned to love hunting, fishing, berry picking and camping. She was, however, happy to give up the tent for the boler trailer which she and husband Ray developed in the 1960s. Lorraine was an exceptional cook, loved doing all types of crafts, and enjoyed astronomy and archeology. Receiving her bachelor's degree from the University of Manitoba (1986), she went on several digs in Manitoba, Greece and surrounding areas. Travel was also one of her favourite things, including a few snowbird years in Florida and Palm Springs.
Throughout her life, Lorraine made many close friends. They and her family were very important to her. She loved seeing her great/grandkids, especially for weekend sleepovers, holidays and family time at the cottage. She enjoyed a full social life, and loved entertaining, hosting friends and family for delicious meals.
Special thanks to Dr. F. Salem who provided such kind and supportive care for so much of Lorraine's later life.
Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date.
Family and friends will be invited to a Celebration of Life in the near future.
