On Friday April 3, 2026 Katharina passed away peacefully at Misercordia Health Centre with her children, Anne and Alfred by her side.
Katharina was born on August 18, 1928 in Brsljanica, Yugoslavia. In 1951 she married Jacob Schleier in Austria. They immigrated to Canada in March 1955. Mom and Dad worked together in an amazing partnership throughout their lives. They were a wonderful support to each other and their extended family.
Katharina is survived by her daughter Anne, grandchildren, Michael Penner and Sam Tidd; Rachel and Andrew Colman; her son Alfred and Cathy Gauthier; grandsons, Brendan and Jacob. She is also survived by her brother Stephan and Christa Beck, numerous nieces and nephews, and their families.
Katharina was predeceased by her parents, Heinrich and Anna Beck, husband Jacob, brothers, Henry and Konrad, sister Anne and son-in-law Vernon.
The funeral service for Katharina will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street with a viewing held from 10:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery. Pastor Paul Sartison officiating.
