It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Keith Melvin Braybrook on April 12, 2026, at the age of 92. Keith left this world in the gentle embrace of sleep at the Sherwood Nursing Home in Virden, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Born on June 15, 1933, in Virden, Manitoba, Keith was the beloved son of Herbert and Georgina Braybrook. He was a devoted family man, a dedicated worker, and a true gentleman whose warmth and kindness touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Keith's journey began at the Joslin School, where he laid the foundation for a life of hard work and commitment. His career was as diverse as it was fulfilling, beginning in the gold mines of Wells, BC, before transitioning to the oilfields of Manitoba and Alberta. Ultimately, his roots called him back to Virden, where he took over the family farm and spent winters contributing to the community at the Virden Arena.
On May 24, 1958, Keith married the love of his life, Olive Gee, in a beautiful ceremony in Virden. Together, they built a loving home and raised four wonderful children: Murray, Brian, Sharon, and Sandra. The couple shared a bond that was an inspiration to all who knew them until Olive's passing in 2018. Keith was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose family was the center of his world. He leaves behind his children, Murray (Cathy Braybrook), Brian (Leslie Braybrook), Sharon (Dwayne Davidson) and Sandra (Ken Cross). His legacy continues through his ten grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love and values he instilled in them.
Keith was a man of simple pleasures. He had a passion for baseball, curling, and golf and was an ardent hockey fan. His love for the outdoors was evident in the time he spent tending to his garden, finding peace and joy in the fruits of his labor.
He is predeceased by his dear wife, Olive; his parents, Herbert and Georgina; and his sister, Kay Dryden. His absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit will live on in the stories and memories shared by those who loved him.
The Braybrook family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Sherwood Nursing Home for their dedicated care and kindness. In accordance with Keith's wishes, a private graveside service will be held to honor his life and legacy. A Celebration Of Life will follow at The Virden Legion Hall on August 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. and is open to anyone wishing to attend.
As we say goodbye to a remarkable man, we hold onto the love he shared and the lessons he imparted. Keith Melvin Braybrookâs life was a testament to the power of love, hard work, and community. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all those fortunate enough to have been a part of his life.
