It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Teresa Maria Oliveira Marques Guerra on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg at the age of 58 years.
Teresa was born on March 15, 1968 in Winnipeg to Antonio Marques (deceased) and Isaura Marques. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 30 years, Victor Guerra, and her cherished children, Belinda, Antonio, and Jeremie. Teresa also leaves behind her brother-in-law Virgilio Guerra (Donna), sister-in-law Georgina Gameiro (Luis), and her nephews, Christopher and Paul. She is further survived by many cousins, uncles, and aunts in Portugal and France, with whom she maintained a loving connection and whose company she treasured during her visits.
Teresa attended Hugh John Macdonald School and then Daniel McIntyre Collegiate (graduating class of 1986). She had many friends and acquaintances throughout her life and loved getting together with them, whether it was for special occasions, catching up over lunch, or for the occasional shopping spree at the mall. Throughout her career, Teresa took on several roles, including working as an administrative assistant in the Admissions Office at the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Medicine. She also worked for many years as an Information Clerk at the Health Sciences Centre and volunteered as a Lunch Supervisor at Meadows West School.
Teresa had a smile that could light up any room and her happy disposition could be felt by everyone that she met. She had an extraordinary ability to remember names, birthdays and anniversaries of all her family, friends, and acquaintances, making each person feel seen and special. She found joy in celebrating others and took every opportunity to uplift those around her through thoughtful gestures and quiet acts of kindness. She enjoyed spending her time with family and ensuring that everyone was taken care of. Of course, she would always find time to celebrate any special occasions or achievements. Teresa will forever be remembered for her kindness and good deeds and her spirit will always be held closely within our hearts.
Teresa was the heart of her home. She was a loving wife and mother who always made sure that those around her were comforted, supported, and never alone. We will forever miss her loving presence in our lives.
Our family invites you to Teresa’s funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at the Immaculate Conception Parish (181 Austin Street North). Condolences will proceed the mass starting at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave.
In lieu of flowers, donations can either be made to a charity of your choice or by performing good deeds in her memory.
