RITA JOANN THOMAS
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rita (Joann) Thomas (Chartrand) on May 11, 2026, at the age of 73, at Stonewall and District Health Centre.
Joann was born on May 5, 1953, in Eriksdale, Manitoba to Dave and Laura.
She will be dearly missed by her loving husband Allen of 51 years of marriage; her sons Tony (Tannis) and Robert (Sherrie); ten grandchildren, she loved them all; nephews Ron, Jason (Jennifer) and Carlin; nieces Alanna, Brandi (son Sage); and special niece Crystel. She will be dearly missed by brothers Dave, aka Timer (Ellen), Trapper Joe; sisters Sandra (Gordon), Mickey (Ron) and Linda. Joann loved her foster children Troy and Ashley Laforte; and her pets Charlie and CC.
Joann was predeceased by her brothers Jim and Doug; and niece Marcy.
The family wishes to thank staff at the Stonewall and District Health Centre for their loving care.
Special thanks to Jason for all your help. Also, special thanks to Virginia and Ron Thomas for their help and support in helping me to get through this difficult time.
As per Joann’s wishes, cremation has already taken place. A graveside service will be announced at a later date.
Rest in peace Sis, love you forever.
