Richard passed from this world peacefully surrounded by love. He is sadly missed by his daughters, Sonia, Janice (Curtis) and Johanne (Matt); Johanne’s mother Jude; his grandchildren, Haley and Jesse; and his first and last love Thelmarie. He was predeceased by his parents, Caroline and Michael Babyak.
Richard’s professional life centered around his education as a lab technologist. He participated in medical research, served as the Executive Director of the Manitoba Paramedical Association and played a major role in the overhaul and modernization of the lab at the Misericordia Hospital.
Richard was an outdoors man. Spring was for nurturing seeds to ready for planting. Summers were for the cottage at West Hawk Lake, his favorite place in the world. Fall was for hunting and harvesting. Winter was a time to rest, relish time with family and Festival du Voyageur.
Richard had many loyal friends. His bridge group, Rick, Pat and Norm, played together for over 50 years. He enjoyed socializing and having a good time. He always had a story to tell and good food to share.
Richard loved a party so please join us in a celebration of his life at 2:00 p.m., on June 23, 2026 at Kilcona Park Alliance Church, 1977 Norris Road in Winnipeg.
