Born in Hebei, China, to Jie Li and Zhenjiang Li (both predeceased), Yueshu was the eldest of four children. He earned a Ph.D. in Plant Physiology and Ecology from the University of Saskatchewan and built a distinguished career in the malting industry, serving as Director of Malting and Brewing Operations at the Canadian Malting Barley Technical Centre in Winnipeg.
A dedicated community leader, he served for 12 years as President of the Manitoba Academy of Chinese Studies, championing Chinese language education and cultural preservation while strengthening connections within Winnipeg's diverse community.
Yueshu is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lili Lei; his children, Leilei (Victor Cui), Jillian (Teo Emric), and Alexander; his grandsons; his sister; two younger brothers; and many extended relatives.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, scientist, mentor, and community leader, Yueshu will be remembered for his integrity, compassion, and lasting contributions to his family and community.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Academy of Chinese Studies in memory of Dr. Yueshu Li.
