DEAN DANFORTH

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dean Danforth on June 3, 2026, at the age of 92.

Dean will be deeply missed by his wife of 63 years, Stephanie; children Kerri (Ken), Chris (Martha); grandchildren McKinley (Kate), Kellen, Kennedy, Max, Jackson; great-grandchild Liza; sisters-in-law Frances, Pauline; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Born in Alberta, Dean moved to Winnipeg early in his 42-year career with CN Rail, where he was the last to apprentice as a steam boilermaker. A dedicated volunteer, he served the Crescentwood community for more than 40 years; Danforth Hall at Crescentwood Community Centre bears his name in recognition of his contributions. Dean was also passionate about baseball and received Baseball Manitoba's Outstanding Achievement Award in 2001.

He will be remembered for his love of family, volunteering, baseball, football, cribbage, gardening, fishing, and tackling projects around the house.

A service will be held at Thomson in the Park, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., followed from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. by a reception at Danforth Hall, Crescentwood Community Centre, 1170 Corydon Ave.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Deanโ€™s memory to Parkinson Canada.
