GAYLE MARGARET JESTADT

(nee HALPENNY)

1936 - 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother Gayle Jestadt, on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Born and raised in Winnipeg, she resided there her entire life. Gayle was predeceased by her beloved husband, Wilfred Jestadt.

Left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Derrick (Lise), Brian, and Grant; her grandchildren, Jamie-Lee (Clinton), Mitchell (Tiffany), Roman, Miranda (Branden), and Quinn; and her great-grandson, Asher. She is also survived by her sister, Geri Farrell (the late George), along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved grandson, Miles.

Gayle was very proud of her three sons and gave constant encouragement towards their education, sports activities, and achievements throughout life.

Gayle graduated from Kelvin High School in 1954. She worked at Great-West Life Assurance Co. and Winnipeg School Division. Later in life, Gayle attended the University of Manitoba and received her Bachelor of Education (Business Ed.) in 1983. She taught business subjects at Success Business College. Gayle was active in the Special Area Groups of Educators (SAGE) professional network and participated in monthly meetings and teaching conferences over the years.

After retirement in 1994, Gayle spent 10 years volunteering in the Speech Language Pathology program at Shamrock School and Island Lakes Community School, proudly giving her time at the very schools her grandchildren attended. She also enjoyed her membership at the Reh-Fit Centre for 20 years, as well as Tai Chi and various exercise classes at the Southdale Community Centre.

For many years, Gayle and all the family enjoyed the cottage at Caddy Lake. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren at the cottage and was keenly interested in all their activities.

Sincere thanks are extended to all of Gayle's compassionate caregivers at River Park Gardens and the Rosewood.

As per Gayle's wishes, cremation will take place. A Funeral Mass celebrating Gayle's life will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road, Winnipeg, with a reception to follow in the parish hall.

A private interment at Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery will occur at a later date.
