With deep sadness, the family announces the passing of Shiela Hamilton, age 70 years, on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, Brandon, Manitoba.
Born on January 25, 1956, in Toronto, Ontario, Shiela moved with her family to Bramalea, Ontario in 1962. In her younger years she loved playing baseball, bowling, and taking part in track and field. She completed her education at Bramalea Secondary School and later worked with individuals with disabilities in Brampton — a role that reflected her caring nature.
After moving to Brandon, Shiela joined Wal Mart, where she worked for 23 years and formed many lasting friendships. She enjoyed simple pleasures: playing bingo with her mother-in-law Marie, watching Toronto Maple Leaf’s and Blue Jays games, dancing to Justin Timberlake’s - Can’t Stop the Feeling, and spending time on the deck playing dominoes with family. Her favorite foods included liver and onions, toasted westerns, and fries with gravy. She enjoyed listening to Celine Dion and watching Coronation Street on TV.
Shiela is survived by her husband Gary Lee Hamilton; her son Christopher Lee Hamilton; her sisters Lorraine Ayerst and Denise Coolich and brother Deron Cottier.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph Jeffrey and Mary Jane Cottier (nee Simons).
Shiela will be remembered for her warmth, her humour, and the joy she brought to everyday moments. The family will cherish her memory privately.
