MARIE CLARISSE (MARY) BEAUCHEMIN Surrounded by her family on September 14, 1999, Mary, cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Gerard and her son Gilles in 1975. She will be remembered and always missed by her six children, Agnes Syganiec (Michael), Armand Beauchemin (Marjorie), Lucien Beauchemin (Judy), Cec Ross (Gordon), Lucie St. Laurent (Gilbert), Michel Beauchemin (Cathy) 14 grandchildren, Sharon Helm (Nick), Christopher Syganiec (Denise) and Darren Syganiec, Danielle (fiance Lloyd), Rejean, Andree, Gaetan, Clode, Camyle Beauchemin, Lysa Cunningham (Chad), Steven Beauchemin, Ryan St. Laurent, Robert and Nicole Beauchemin; four great-grandchildren, Avery and Devon Helm, Austin and Joshua Cunningham. She is survived by sister-in-law Elizabeth Beauchemin and brother-in-law Octave Roy; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and sadly missed by many friends. Mary, daughter of Camiel and Louise Smessaert, was born on October 4, 1925 in Ile-des-Chenes, Manitoba. She met and married Gerard and spent the next 29 years farming, and later worked as a custodian at Ile-des-Chenes School. Mom stayed in her house on the farm until just recently. She was an active member in the Womens Catholic League for many years. Memere enjoyed playing cards, traveling, singing, flowers, and later in her spare time she took up knitting, which left us all with a warm memento. Anyone who knew Mom was touched by her gentleness and caring manner. She loved to go out for coffee and any opportuned outings that came her way. Mary was an avid church goer, and choir member. Her deep faith helped her through trying times. This legacy of faith has been passed to her family for which we are all eternally grateful. Viewing will be held on Saturday, September 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Notre Dame de la Misericorde Church in Ile-des-Chenes followed by Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 a.m., celebrated by M. labbe Marcel Carriere. Interment will take place in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her seven grandsons, Christopher, Darren, Rejean, Gaetan, Steven, Ryan and Robert. The family would like to thank all the staff at St. Boniface Hospital on Wards 3E and 5E, and Homecare. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
