Sarah will also be greatly missed by her dear niece Elsie Favel and cousin Grace Clifford and many other family and friends. Sarah or Sadie as she was affectionately known was born on Gunton, MB on September 28, 1904 to John and Frances Favel. She started school at Dundas but the family soon moved to Teulon, MB where she completed her education. She loved school and athletics, baseball being a favourite pastime. Sadie would have liked to have been a teacher, but it just wasnt possible for her at that time. For those of us who loved her and are privileged to have been a part of her life, she was teacher. Her life an inspiration. Her warmth and wisdom, kindness and selflessness a blessing. Her life was a gift to us, and we are so much richer for it. Sadie and Reuben met while both working at the Motor Country Club which was Lower Fort Garry. They married in 1928 and lived most of their married life in the old Begg homestead in Old England, south of Selkirk and just west of the CPR tracks. it was a life of hard work, family, friends and devotion. Those were happy years. The Begg home was a haven of warmth and hospitality. It was a gathering place and there was many a Saturday night when family and friends came be to dance the night away to the tune of some good old time music, with Reuben on the fiddle and Sadie at the piano. Sadie was a life long member and past president of the A.W.C.A. and for nearly 70 years a loyal parishioner at St. Clements Anglican Church on the River Road. She found great strength in her love of God and an inner peace in prayer. Her life was her family and she was always thankful that they remained close by. When the old home was torn down she was so saddened that she wrote a poem to express her feelings. A line from it goes, that dear old house, that old gray house, that watched the trains go by. Now as we watch the leaves change to red and gold we remember that great life and our loss. We shall always love her indomitable spirit and always, always, cherish her memory. Rest eternally, dear heart. An evening prayer service will be held on Monday (tonight) at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 28 at 2:00 p.m. in The Parish Church of St. Clements, Selkirk with The Rev.
