DONALD (GEORGE) THOMAS Suddenly, on Saturday, October 23, 1999 at his residence at Matheson Island, Donald (George) Thomas passed away at the age of 60 years. Donald was born, raised and educated at Matheson Island, later moving to Grand Rapids where he resided for 25 years and most recently had resided at Matheson Island. He leaves to cherish his beautiful memory his beloved wife Agnes of 23 years; eight children, Gerald, Margaret, Maureen (Robert), Georgina (Gerald), Wanda, Brenda, Donald and Christina (Tim). He will also be sadly missed by a very special friend Nancy; 3 sisters, Betty, Emily and Maryanne. There are 15 grandchildren, Shayne, Wendy, Nikki, Jaimie, Destiny, Chastity, Gerelle, Summer, Christopher, Cody, Kane, Stewart, Brayden, Dusty and Chad. There are numerous nieces, nephews, great niece and great nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Donald and Margaret Thomas and brother Robert Thomas. Wake service will be held on Monday, October 25, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Chief Peter Beardy Memorial Centre, Grand Rapids. Funeral Service will be Held on Tuesday, October 26 at 11:00 a.m. also at the Chief Peter Beardy Memorial Centre with Rev. Douglas Highway officiating. Service will terminate at the centre with cremation to follow. Donald will be laid to rest on Wednesday, October 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Matheson Island Cemetery. Honourary pallbearers will be, Francis Lavallee, Gilbert Munroe, Bruce Cook, Andrew Pranteau, Walter Arthurson, John Cook and Stan Guimond. Active pallbearers will be Tim Arthurson, Gerald Turner, Gerald Thomas, Donald Thomas, Abner Cook and William Beardy. His smiling way and pleasant face Are a pleasure to recall, He had a kindly word for each, And died beloved by all.
