Hazel was born to Mr. & Mrs. Tom Huston on September 28, 1904 in the R.M. of Arthur near Pipestone, MB. Hazel was the eldest daughter in the family of eleven children. The family attended the Huston School. Hazel had special memories of being her fathers girl. Hazel and her older brother were always ready to accompany their father on his speaking engagements as the Reeve of the Municipality. Hazel is survived by two younger sisters, Myrtle Huston and Eileen Parker who reside at Windimere home in Vancouver. Hazel was predeceased by her father in April of 1937; her mother in December 1968; her husband Jack W. Quinlan in June 1965; her brothers, George, Cecil, Jim, Tommy and Earle; her sisters, Isabel, Edna and Alice. The family moved from the Pipestone area to Winnipeg until 1939, then to Vancouver. Hazel and husband Jack W. Quinlan remained in Winnipeg where Jack played with the Neapolitans on Radio Station C.J.R.C. Winnipeg and Society String Syncopators entertaining Orchestra from C.K.Y. Hazel as a faithful daughter and wife could not bring herself to leave Winnipeg. Her heart was here where both her husband and father were laid to rest. In later years, Hazel lived in the Lions Manor. She enjoyed many friendships but one by one her four close friends passed away. In 1998 Hazel came to live at Golden Links Lodge. She often wished she and her two sisters in Vancouver could be together. She will be missed by her sisters, Myrtle Huston and Eileen Parker of Vancouver, BC, also by friend Edith Webb and staff at Golden Links Lodge. Now her lovely smile will only be a memory. A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, November 17 at 10:45 a.m. in the Golden Links Lodge, 2280 St. Marys Rd.
