Stan is survived by his loving wife Olive of fifty eight years of marriage; sons, Don (Sheryl), Lee (Elaine) daughters, Judy (Larry), Patti Gay. Seven grandchildren, Dustyn, Chris, Mike, Pam, Adam, Merrit and Kelsy. Stan was born in Kendall, SK on June 26, 1911. At an early age, his family moved to the Quappelle Valley near Katepwa Lake where they farmed. This is where his love of the land and the valley flourished. As a young man he moved to Regina to take training in auto mechanics. He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1939 and became a Sergeant in Aero Engine Mechanics. He was posted at Jericho Beach, Vancouver and Stevenson Field, Winnipeg, from where he shipped overseas with the 4818 squadron to Wombleton, England to work on the Lancaster Bombers. He returned to Canada at the end of the war, receiving his discharge from the Air Force after seven years service. He settled in Winnipeg with his wife Olive, whom he had met and married while stationed in Vancouver. He started his own used car sales business in 1948 under the name of Star Motors which was located at 1050 Logan Ave. for over 40 years. He relocated to 4400 Main St. where never wanting to retire, he was still doing business until his passing. Stan was a member of the Manitoba Motor League for over 50 years and also a member of West Kildonan Legion. Stan will be dearly missed by his family, friends, neighbours and his "coffee buddies" from Robins. The family would like to thank the Emergency Response team, the H.S.C. Emergency staff and the H.S.C. Chaplin for their efforts and compassion. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor with Rev. Clark Saunders officiating. As with Stans wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba in Stans name.
