WILLIAM GARNET THOMAS September 30, 1920 December 2, 1999 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Bill Thomas, at the Grace Hospital, after a brave long battle with cancer. Bill leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 45 years Evelyn; son Brian; daughters, Nancy (Louis) and grandchildren Tricia and Chris; Marilyn (Marilyn, Kimberley, Scott), and Diane (Gary). He was predeceased by his parents and twin sister. Bill joined Harper Construction Co. Ltd. in 1948, working for his father. Bill became owner and president in 1953. Bill thoroughly enjoyed all the years of work, helped in part by his dedicated employees; especially ex-foremen of 32 years - Gordon Hornan of Giroux. Bill was respected for his honesty and integrity in his work and genuine caring for others. Bill belonged to a small gun club whose members supported him right to the end. This has been greatly appreciated by the family. Bill also enjoyed the many years spent at the family cottage at Whytewold. The family would like to thank the VON, Home Care, Grace Hospital 3 North, Drs. Vivian and Mulder for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MS Society or Kinsmen Reh-Fit Centre. Memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 7, at 2:15 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway.
