Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAN JACOBUS HUBERTAS (JOHN) PUBBEN On December 9, 1999 with family close by John Pubben passed away peacefully at East View Lodge, Neepawa, after a brief battle with cancer. John was born March 14, 1914 in Grubbenvort, Limburg, Netherlands, eldest son of John and Hendrika Pubben. The family immigrated to Canada in the spring of 1928, first settling in the Maitland District, north of Plumas. At the age of 14 John started working in the Ogilvie District. He worked many years until he started farming with his father. For several years during the winter months, John worked in Ontario Bush Camps. On February 27, 1960 John married Helena Vantol in Portage la Prairie and were blessed with four children. After many years of farming in the Plumas District, they retired to Neepawa in 1996. In the summer of 1999 John became a resident of East View Lodge. John loved working with horse, hunting, gardening and travelling the countryside admiring farms and scenery. His travels included two trips to the Netherlands with his wife. Many days in his life were spent reminiscing about his lifes experiences. John was predeceased by his parents, John and Henrika; brother Jack; sister Nellie; brother-in-law Maurice. John leaves to mourn his wife Helen, with whom he celebrated 39 years of marriage; sons, Frank, Leo, Harry (Darlene) and precious granddaughter Anna; daughter Marian (Sheldon) brothers, Peter (Mary), Sam (Pearl) and sister Regina (Bernard) sister-in-law Martha (Joe) numerous nieces and nephews. John will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. He was a very special compassionate person in all our lives. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Dominics Roman Catholic Church, Neepawa, with Father Chris Soeterboek officiating. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Neepawa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Neepawa Palliative Care, P.O. Box 1240, Neepawa or Canadian Cancer Society. Whites Funeral Home, Neepawa in care of arrangements.
