Walter was born on April 22, 1916 in Cobalt, Ont., the son of Arthur and Emily Clarke. Walter spent most of his life in Kirkland Lake where he enjoyed working in car sales. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 48 years. Walter will be remembered as a generous and affable man. He enjoyed working with youth and was the founder of the Chaput Hughes Boys Club. He found simple pleasures in woodworking and all sorts of flowers, both admiring and giving them. Walter was predeceased by his loving wife, Jennie. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory his three daughters, Sydney (Neil) MacDonald of Kirkland Lake, Ont., Kellie Clarke (Evan Turner) of Huntsville, Ont., and Shelley (Valentino) Corvino of Winnipeg, Man. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives and good friends. Friends so wishing may make donations in Walters memory to the Lions Camp Dorset For Dialysis, P.O. Box 306, Dorset, Ont., P0A 1E0 as tokens of remembrance. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at the Victoria Hospital. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Heather Webster, R.N., whos quality care and abundant compassion blessed us and demonstrated the essence of all that nursing practice should encompass. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow I am the diamond glints on the snow I am the sunlight on ripened grain I am the gentle autumns rain When you awake in the mornings hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry I am not there, I did not die. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
