ROBERT GISLI OLSON Peacefully, on Monday, February 21, 2000 at the Toronto Grace Hospital. Born in Lancer, Sask. on June 9, 1922. Son of the late Reverend Carl J. Olson and Olof Sveinsson. Beloved friend of the late Theodore Blockley. Predeceased by his sister Margaret. Survived by his sister Lillian Lane (and the late Alec) of Brockville, Ont. and brother Carl (Gene) of Winnipeg; loving uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews. Also survived by Sister Laufey Olson (Winnipeg). When living in Winnipeg Robert attended the Jon Bjarnason Academy and Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. Robert enlisted in the R.C.A.F. in Winnipeg in 1941 and served in England and the Queen Charlotte Islands until 1945. After leaving the services, Robert continued his education in Eastern Canada. He resided for many years in Santa Monica, California and returned to Ontario in 1988. He lived a colourful and creative life. Robert will be sadly missed by his family and his many loyal friends. Service was held on Thursday, February 24 at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Toronto, followed by interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Warm thanks to the very caring staff on the 6th floor (Palliative Care) of the Toronto Grace Hospital.
