MURIEL POPIEL (DODDS) After a lengthy illness on Thursday, March 23, 2000 at the River East Personal Care Home, Muriel Gladys Popiel passed away at 82 years of age. Muriel was born in Winnipeg on February 23, 1918. She attended Lord Selkirk School and Glendale School in Winnipeg. She worked at Liggetts Drug, Jack St. Johns Drug and National Drug Co. Later with her husband Jerry they owned and operated Ideal Drug for many years. She married Jerry Popiel on October 11, 1958. Together they enjoyed many years of companionship, bowling and their cottage life during the summers at Ponema. Muriel enjoyed knitting, crafts and playing cards. She was predeceased by her husband Jerry; her parents, William and Rose Dodds; as well as her brothers, Howard, Wilbur and Wilson; and her sister Rhoda. She is survived by her sister Leila; her brother-in-law Joe Popiel and will be sadly missed by her relatives and friends. Muriels family would like to thank all of the staff at River East Personal Care Home for their kind and compassionate care. If friends so desire, donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the charity of ones choice. Viewing will be held on Sunday, March 26 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the Garden of Resurrection at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens (please meet at the front gates to the cemetery).
