Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALVIN GERALD BROWN It is with deep sadness that we announce Als passing on Friday, March 24, 2000 at his residence, at the age of 65. Al fought heart and lung disease in recent years, and more recently, cancer. Al was born in Arden, MB on February 26, 1935. He was predeceased by his parents, Elsie and William Brown, and his sister Shirley. Remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 35 years, Diane; his children, Jamie Nelson-Dixon (Don), Jeff Nelson (Bonnie), and Laurie Nelson-Moser (Mark) his sister Lois Sawatzky (Harvey) his brothers, Len Brown (Linda), Ron Brown (Sheila), and Bill Brown (Lillas) plus seven grandsons and many nieces and nephews. Al grew up in the Neepawa area, Carman, and Stonewall, and settled in Winnipeg where he met Diane. In his 20s, he enjoyed racing cars with his brother Len. He was employed for many years at Birchwood Motors, where he was a top-notch mechanic. He enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, gardening, and the outdoors, particularly Whiteshell Provincial Park. Al loved his grandsons dearly, and will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul. In lieu of flowers, donations in Als memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or a charity of your choice. At Als request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating Als life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 3 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance.
