GEERTRUIDA (GERTRUDE) BEENS November 1, 1921 to April 16, 2000 After a courageous battle with cancer, Gertrude Beens peacefully passed away at the age of 78 years. Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband Henry Beens in 1979. Gertrude will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children Gerda and (Jake) DeJong, Heino and (Betty) Beens, Coba and (Carl) Krizenga, Margaret and (John) Menheer, 14 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; also survived by three sisters and two brothers in The Netherlands, and many nieces and nephews. Gertrude was born in Borger, The Netherlands on November 1, 1921. She and her husband, Henry, and four children immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada in 1954. Her favourite pastime was knitting for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Unrau, Dr. Ann Kong, and the staff of Concordia Hospital. Funeral services will be held at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 653 Knowles Avenue at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20. Interment will be at Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
