LLOYD THOMPSON June 13th, 1920 - May 2nd, 2000 Dr. Lloyd Thompson passed away peacefully at the Selkirk and District Hospital on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2000 at the age of 79 years. Lloyd is survived by his wife Dorothy; children, Layne Kee of Nanoose Bay, B.C., Dr. Tom Thompson of Winnipeg, Wynne and Tom Young of Regina, Dan Thompson and Lynne Scott of Kamloops, and Tracy Thompson of Selkirk; grandchildren, Chris and Suzanne Young; and his sister Grace of Calgary. He was predeceased by his infant son Ricky; brothers, Bill and Gordon; and sisters, Beth, Josephine and Cleta. He was born and raised in Rocanville, SK. He served as navigator in the RAF/RCAF in the Second World War before beginning medical studies at the University of Manitoba and universities in Great Britain and other parts of Canada. He served as a family physician and surgeon in Selkirk and then at Deer Lodge Centre in Winnipeg until his retirement in 1985. The highlights of his retirement were the hours spent strolling the sands of Wanasing Beach, chatting to neighbours and his penchant for crossword puzzles. A private family service will be held at a later date in Didsbury, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation in memory of Lloyd to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301 - 352 Donald St., Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3B 2H8.
