Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRAE ALISON ELIZABETH PORRIOR (nee HOVORKA) It is with sadness that we announce the death of Rae Alison Elizabeth Porrior at the Grace Hospital on May 15, 2000 at the age of 52 years. Rae was born on November 20, 194711- in Kamsack SK. to Thomas E. Hovorka and Lilian B. Hovorka (nee Wilkinson) She is survived by her daughter Stephanie; sisters, Jean Sander and Joanne (Bob) Smandych of Sask.; brother Pat (Penny) Hovorka (Ont.) uncle Tunney (Virginia) Hovorka; aunt Katherine Cottingham of Winnipeg; aunt Judy (Leo) Gratton; uncle Dan (Laura) Hovorka; aunt Joan Hovorka, all of BC. along with several nieces and nephews and many cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, father and grandparents. As a child, Rae grew up in a family, very dedicated to music. Her love of piano playing brought her and many others much enjoyment and happiness. Rae enjoyed a lifetime of summer holidays at the family cottage at Madge Lake, SK. There she learned to swim, fish, boat and enjoy many evenings singing and telling stories around a campfire. With her huge extended family, Raes life was filled with much laughter and good times. After graduating High School, she began her career as a clerk-typist and went on to receive a Library Technicians Certificate. She continued her education at the University of Winnipeg working towards a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Sociology Major. Rae spent three years at the Yorkton Regional Library before moving to the Health Science Centre School of Nursing. Rae was a librarian at the Health Science Centre at Winnipeg and helped found a chapter of Canadian Health Libraries Assoc. in Manitoba. In her spare time, Rae spent many hours on her computer, compiling the family tree. Her interest in stamp collecting was proven by the many volumes of stamps and books she had. The love of her life was her daughter Stephanie. The values of strength, courage and love that Rae taught her will live on in her. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 18 at 2:00 p.m. in Holy Trinity Anglican Church (Donald & Graham), 256 Smith St. Interment to follow in Kamsack, Saskatchewan at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Raes memory to a charity of choice. The family of the late Rae Porrior would like to thank everyone who supported and cared for Rae during her illness. To the many friends and neighbors of the South Bay Housing, whose compassion and loyalty shone through. To Judy, Barb, Sandra and Charrise who gave so much to their friend unconditionally. To Gina, Kathy, uncle Tunney and families who supported not only Rae, but the immediate family is deeply appreciated. To Chris, VON, who was not only her nurse but became a wonderful friend. To the staff at the Grace Hospital, we thank you for your wonderful care, insight and compassion. To Dr. Harris and the Oncology staff - youre the best. To Father Henry and Youth Pastor, Paul for your shoulder, your support and your humour. Our gratitude to Dana and Bill who became a large part of our family in days of need. To Denise, Marilyn, Christine and the Home Care Workers, we thank you for all your support and knowledge.
