ALMA THOMAS (SCHACHT)

ALMA THOMAS (nee SCHACHT) On Saturday, June 10, 2000 at St. Boniface Hospital, Alma slipped away peacefully. Alma was born on March 4, 1916 and raised in Winnipeg. She worked for the University of Manitoba at both the Fort Garry campus and at Medical and Dental Colleges, retiring in 1981. A strong believer in community she worked to raise funds for a number of charities and was a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She joined her husband Peter who passed away on April 3, 1986. Many fond memories are forever in the hearts of her sister Hilda of Lac du Bonnet; Edna (Bruce) of Toronto and Polly of Toronto; her brother Irvin (Gladys) of Vancouver; her son Gerald of Vancouver, son Pall and wife Lynn of Nanaimo and their sons Sean (Olga) of South Africa and Darren of Pemberton, B.C.; and son Terry and wife Sharyl of Winnipeg. At Almas request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, June 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave. at Aubrey Street.
