CLAIR CONNELLY Suddenly on Saturday, July 8, 2000, Clair Connelly passed away. Clair leaves to mourn his wife of 37 years, Cecilia Connelly (Suttorp) daughters, Susan Connelly, Colleen Doyle (Terry Doyle), Erin Dowhan and Shannon Ferguson (Glenn Ferguson) and son Sean Connelly (Lisa Connelly). Also left to mourn are his grandchildren, Tyler and Bryce Doyle, Caitlin, Daimin and Kallista Connelly, Amanda and Paul Dowhan and his sisters, Kaye Crouch (Jack Crouch), Merle Grant (Gerry Grant) and Susan Connelly. Clair was predeceased by his parents and most recently his sister Gail Price-Andrews (Floyd Andrews). Clair was born in Haileybury, Ont., and often spoke of working as a milkman carrying milk to neighbouring communities by horse. In 1959, while working for Fircco Sales, Clair travelled to Winnipeg and met and married a farmers daughter from Little Britain, Man. Clair began working for Husky Oil, then Fluorescent Signs and Services until he and a few partners established Connelly Signs and Services Ltd. in 1971 until he retired in 1994. Clair enjoyed travelling to Europe and Mesa, Arizona. He is also a lifetime member of the East Kildonan Lions Club and the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #215. Clairs friends will remember him for his generosity and sense of humour and his family will remember him for his humourous rendition of the "Connelly Song" and the many Christmas Eves watching "A Christmas Carol" while friends and family enjoyed Christmas Cheer. A celebration of Clairs life will be held on Wednesday, July 12, at 10:00 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lions Eye Bank, Box 1977, Winnipeg, Man., R3C 3R3. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel; 338-0331.
