PETER PROSKEN On July 23, 2000, Peter Prosken left this world while at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. He will be dearly missed by his wife Olga; step-son Harold (Joyce Prosken) step-daughters, Julie (Ed) Alexiuk and Brenda (Robert) Douglas; step-grandchildren, Jeff (Marg) Prosken, Mary Joy Prosken, Nicholas and Lucas Alexiuk and step great-grandson Zachary Prosken, all of Winnipeg. He will also be missed by his brother Tom (Ada) Prosken of Sandy Lake; niece Jeanne (Malaki) Lundy and great-nephew Lamarr of the Bahamas and his nephew Harold (Mary-Jane) Prosken of St. Catherines, ON. Peter is predeceased by his parents, Harry Prosken (1974) and Josephine Lichak (1973) his younger brother Kasmer (1944) and his sister Jean Vilniff (1985). Peter was born on his farm near Sandy Lake in 1921 where he lived until he married Olga Prosken of Sandy Lake on July 28, 1990 and inherited a bigger family. Peter enjoyed his time at the farm - it was his special place to plow the soil, putter with machinery and ponder life. He was a kind and gentle man who loved playing the cardgame "Hola", going dancing and eating anything that was chocolate. He looked forward to any visitors dropping by the house, and enjoyed spending time at the Seniors Drop-In Centre where he laughed with many of his friends. But Peter will be most remembered for his kindness and willingness to help others whether it be cultivating gardens, cutting grass or lending a hand during others time of need. On Peters behalf, the family would like to thank all his friends for all their prayers and his neighbours for their acts of kindness. Thanks is also extended to Dr. Khandelwal for his long term care of Peter, Dr. Sharma and the staff of St. Boniface Hospital who helped everyone through this difficult time, and Ruth and Isaac for their pleasant company. Funeral service will be held at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ozerna, MB on Saturday, July 29 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery. Prayers will be said from the church Friday evening, July 28 at 7:30 p.m. If family and friends so desire, donations may be made to St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ozerna or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba in memory of Peter. Raes Funeral Service of Shoal Lake are in care of arrangements. PETER WILL BE SADLY MISSED BUT ALWAYS REMEMBERED
