VIOLA POERSCH November 25, 1903 - August 10, 2000. The family sadly announces the passing of our mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother at Golden West Centennial Lodge, August 10, 2000, at the age of 96. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Wilma and her son-in-law Gunter Baureiss; her grandchildren, Wendy Bond (Wayne), Donna Medwick (Steve), Randy Somerville (Sharon), Sherri Buhler (Michael) great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kristin Bond, Kevin (Kelly) Medwick, Michael, Matthew, Trevor Medwick, Tiffany, Derrick Ashley Somerville, and Emily Buhler. She was predeceased by her husband John; son-in-law Merv Somerville; and two great-grandchildren in infancy; parents, Grant and Myrtle Bales; brothers, Beryl and Vivan Bales; sisters, Leora Whitehead, Edna McKee, Edith Young, and Ruth McCallum. Mother was born November 25, 1903 in Wichita, Kansas, U.S.A. She moved to Fannystelle as a child and then to Winnipeg. She married John Poersch on December 28, 1926. They spent most of their life on the family farm at Lea Bank, and moved to Charleswood later in life. My childhood memories of my mother are many: Sunday dinner with family and friends; her love of dancing, skating, snowshoeing and playing cards with friends and neighbours. After moving to Charleswood, she worked in sales, becoming a manager of Tupperware. She was a member of the Charleswood Seniors and learned to play bridge at 84. She will be remembered for her strength of character and her love for her family. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Golden West for the loving care they provided. A celebration of her life will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 14. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends may make a contribution to a charity of their choice. Her weary hours and days of pain, Her troubled nights are past, And in our aching hearts we know, She has found sweet rest at last.
