NORMAN RACH With great sadness, the family announces the passing of their dearly beloved husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Norman Rach, on Monday, August 14, 2000 at the Health Sciences Centre with his family by his side, at the age of 67. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 41 years, Ruthie; his daughter Debbie (husband George) his son Cory (special friend Elana) and Papas precious grandsons, Ryan, Taylor and Lucas. He was predeceased by his father August in 1983 and mother Elsie in 1990. He also leaves to mourn his brother Herb Rach (Esther) sister Doreen Steinke (Melford) brother Gordon Rach (Joanne) and sister Gladys MacGregor (Reigh) and numerous nieces and nephews. Norman was born in Thalberg, MB on January 19, 1933. He worked in many various construction jobs. He was very committed to his work, especially his grader. He retired from the Department of Highways in Beausejour in 1993. Norman was a man of great commitment to his work and to his family. In August, 1999, he found his "dream cabin" where he spent many happy days watching the golfers from across the river of his cabin and planned on spending his golden years there year-round. In October of 1999, Norman was struck with various illnesses and very courageously fought every one of them as hard as he could right until his death. Norman was a man blessed with a terrific sense of humour and a joy for life. He especially loved his children and grandchildren whom he constantly praised. Our memories of you will never fade and the void you leave will never be filled. We will never forget you and a part of you is with us everyday. Norman fought the biggest battle of his life due to his illnesses, but now Dad, you are at peace. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Gertrude Avenue and First Street, Beausejour, MB, with Pastor Michael Cone officiating. There will be viewing prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be his buddies, John Doerksen, Stan Szymanski, Art Burden; his godsons, Dennis Steinke and Allan Plato; and his nephew Chris Plato. Flowers are gratefully declined. In lieu, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301 - 352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8; or The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 200 - 55 Donald St. Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8.
