MARION OSEY THODY Passed away August 27, 2000 at TriLake Health Centre, Killarney, Man. Marion was born at Mather, Man. and lived there all her life until 1997 when she moved to Kelowna, B.C. to enjoy her retirement. Ill health in February, 2000 forced her to give up her home there and in July of this year she returned to Manitoba and was happy that she was able to attend the McLeod family reunion. Marion was born to Ab and Minnie Fulford, September 23, 1911. In 1929, she married Clayton Thody and they raised their family in Mather and ran Thodys garage and coffee shop for a number of years. She was very active in the United Church as Sunday School Superintendent and Secretary Treasurer, as well as being a member of the UCW. She was also Secretary Treasurer of the Mather School Board for a number of years. After their family left home, Marion and Clayton boarded teachers and Marion counted them as some of her very best friends. She will likely be best remembered for her love of her yard and garden and her long hours spent keeping things looking nice. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Merle, Flora, Elaine and Edna, and brothers, Fred and Gordon; her husband; her son Floyd and great-granddaughter Nicole Spiegelmann. She is survived by her sister-in-law Lorna Fulford; her brother-in-law Newt Duncalfe; daughter Lois (Joe) Cloutier; daughter-in-law Shirley Thody and son Ron (Georgina). She was a very special Grandma to Cheryl (Steve) Melnyk, Ross (Naomi) Cloutier, Darrell (Maria) Thody, Darin (Carmen) Cloutier, Loriann (Steve) Spiegelmann, Glen (Tracy) Thody, Lyall (Patty) Thody and Pam (Ken) Bews. She was Great-Grandma to Susan and Steven Melnyk, Logan Cloutier, Christina Thody, Angela and Jayme Cloutier, Rachelle and Elissa Spiegelmann and Mackenzie Thody. She will also be remembered by her nephews and nieces and many cousins. Funeral services will be held at Mather United Church, Thursday, August 31 at 11:00 a.m. Grahams Funeral Services, Pilot Mound, Man. in care of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations received will be gratefully forwarded to Marions Foster Child in Thailand. God looked upon His garden And found an empty space, Then He looked down upon the Earth And saw your tired face. He put his arms around you And lifted you to rest, Gods garden must be beautiful For He only takes the best. God saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb, He closed your weary eyes And whispered "Peace to Thine." A golden heart stopped beating Working hands to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. It broke our hearts to lose you But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you To Gods garden, your new home.
