JAMES WILLIAM RAE It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father, and grandfather, Jim Rae on October 15, 2000. He is survived by his loving wife Marlene; daughter Kelly (Peter Garagan) son Kirby (Debbie) Rae; daughter Jody (Stephen Willison), and grandchildren Kendra, Kiera, Alyssa, Jayelyn and Ian. Also surviving are brother-in-laws Bob (Betty) Huget, Ron (Margaret) Huget, Jerry (Sandy) Huget and sister-in-law Diane Barker of California. He was pre-deceased by his parents Margaret and James Rae, and brother-in-law Keith Barker. Jim was born February 3, 1935 and grew up on Kylemore in Fort Rouge where he met and married his wife, Marlene, in 1956. He attended Lord Roberts School and Gordon Bell High School. Jim began his career with Systems Equipment as a compositor. In 1958, he joined Wilsons Office Specialty in their printing department and later became the Sales Manager. Upon his recent retirement, he was the Branch Manager of Grand and Toy where he had been for 42 years. Jim was also active in a variety of community and business associations including Crime Stoppers, Winnipeg Executive Association, Chamber of Commerce, and was an avid runner at the Reh-Fit Centre. Jims greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren at the family cottage at Victoria Beach where he enjoyed relaxing, golfing and running. Jim and his wife were avid travelers and looked forward to their many vacations together. Jim will be mourned and sadly missed by his wife, family and friends. Funeral service will be held Thursday, October 19. Interment will take place 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home with service and reception to follow at Sturgeon Creek United Church at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, if anyone desires, donations may be made in Jims memory to a charity of their choice.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Many years have gone by since "Uncle" Jim's passing, and time and circumstances kept our families apart before that... but when our families spent time together, it was nothing but good times, and provided me personally with many happy memories. Sir, you were amazing and our visits left an indelible mark on my childhood. - Posted by: Terry W (Friend) on: Apr 25, 2021
