Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAC THOMPSON (DIMETRO TYMETZ) On Thursday, November 2, 2000, surrounded by his family, Mac Thompson of Amaranth, passed away peacefully at Portage General Hospital. Predeceased by parents Alexander and Christina Thompson, brothers Mike and John; sisters Annie and Kay; two children in infancy, Daniel and Evie, Dad is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 65 years, Eva; three sons and two daughters, 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Tom (Alice), Amaranth and his children, Chris (Debra) of Winnipeg, A-Lynn of Banff, Ashley of Edmonton; Lillian (Paul) Delveaux of Winnipeg and their children, Blair (Debra) and Matthew of Kenora, Brent (Victoria), Nicholas and Cassandra of Port Moody, Melody and Malik of Winnipeg; Elizabeth (Dennis) Isfeld and their children, Kevin and Tyler, Jeff, Derek and Kaitaia all of Kamloops; Lorne (Cindie) of Edmonton and their children, Tamera of Israel and David of Edmonton; Bob (Nadena) of Winnipeg; his sister-in-law Kay Thompson of Portage la Prairie, also many nieces and nephews. Dad was born November 8, 1912, in the Glenella (Sunville) District, married Mom (Eva) Sul on November 14, 1935, lived and worked in the Glencairn, Glenella, Kelwood areas as a farmer, blacksmith, butter maker and heavy equipment operator until 1960 when he bought and operated the fuel oil business and started farm equipment sales in Amaranth. During his lifetime, his many community involvements were as an active curler and ice maker, a life member of the Langruth BPOE Elks, a member of the Catholic Church, the Kellwood Legion, the Amaranth Credit Union (board member) and the Amaranth Senior Club. In his business career, one of his awards in sales was that of winning a trip for him and Mom to England and Belgium in 1973. Highlights of his retirement years were trips to see his family as well as to Arizona and New Mexico. Dad was very tolerant and accepting of others beliefs, religions and races. He was proud of his children, grandchildren and their accomplishments. His family was very important to him. Prayers are at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 7 at the Omega Funeral Home, Portage la Prairie. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Angels Roman Catholic Church in Amaranth, Wednesday, November 8 (Dads birthday) at 1:00 p.m. His grandsons are pallbearers. Interment at Sunville Cemetery. The Omega Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
