Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEXANDRA (SANDRA) BEATTIE (nee HOGG) Peacefully, during the early morning of November 22, 2000, Sandra, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, passed away after a brave and lengthy battle with cancer. Sandra is survived by husband Aubrey; sons, Michael, Scott and Callum; mother Louisa; sisters, Rae, Gladys, Lil (James), Val (David) mother-in-law Annie; brothers-in-law, Shaun (Mary), Lorne (Polly) and many nieces and nephews. Sandra was predeceased by her father in 1999. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland on January 6, 1942 to Alexander and Louisa Hogg, Sandra came to Canada in 1960 at the age of 18 where she met and married Aubrey Beattie, of Winnipeg. Sandra led a full life, involving herself with her childrens activities through school and adulthood, volunteered for the Kidney Foundation as well as local school fundraisers for many years. Sandra enjoyed spending her weekends at the cottage with her family and her weekdays enjoying hobbies like learning the piano and stained glass crafts. She was a best friend to her husband, an inspiration to her children and a ray of light to all who knew her. She treated people with compassion and respect and received the same in return. She will be dearly missed. The family wishes to extend great appreciation to the nurses and staff at the Victoria General Hospital, Dr. Scurrah, and Dr. Helga Sickert, her friend and physician. A memorial service will take place at Thomsons Funeral Chapel, 669 Broadway, on Saturday, November 25 at 10 a.m. If so desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
