MARY JEAN THOMPSON After a long battle with cancer, Mary Jean Thompson, aged 54 years, of Matlock, MB passed away peacefully at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli on December 2, 2000. Mary Jean leaves behind her loving husband Barney; one son Robert of Matlock; six daughters, Lyn Wall of Halifax, Sue Thompson of Edmonton, Donna Legare (Mike) of Quebec City, Nancy Thivierge (George) of Winnipeg, Vicky Hillier (Malcolm) of Swift Current, and Sandy Gilbert (Dave) of Winnipeg; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leroy and Cam (Debbie) of Moose Jaw and Paul (Joyce) of Yellow Grass, SK; two sisters, Sharon McDonald (Bob) and Irene Miele (Gerry) of Moose Jaw; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mary Jean was born in Moose Jaw on August 10, 1946. She was a loving person and a great wife and mother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She always made time for you. Mary Jean was an LPN at Johnson Memorial Hospital and enjoyed her work and the people there. She also started a foot care business which she really enjoyed. Mary Jean loved life. She always wanted to have her family around. In August of 1999 she arranged to have a family reunion and made sure all were in attendance. During the 23 years she was married to Barney, she made sure the family stuck together. Prayers will be said on Tuesday (tonight) at 7:30 p.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church in Winnipeg Beach. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 6 at 11:00 a.m. also in the church with Fr. Jose Cabrel and Deacon Ray Sutton officiating. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancercare, 100 Olivia Street, Winnipeg, R3E 0V9. Special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Johnson Memorial Hospital.
