CHARLES MITCHELL HILL Charles Mitchell Hill passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2000 at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. Charlie was born September 2, 1926 on the farm of Archie and Merle Hill at Miniota, Man. He received his grade schooling at Blaris and Beulah schools from 1932 - 1943. In November of 1943 at the age of 17, Charlie joined the Army Trades Training Corps to complete an electrical course. In 1945 after VJ Day, he returned to the home farm at Miniota. In 1948 Charlie went to Winnipeg to take a course in Radio through the rehab for Veterans. He was then employed at Factory Products in Winnipeg for 11 years. The next two years he joined a partner in fixing radios and televisions. From 1961 to 1991 he was a shipper of electric and radio parts at Sparling Sales Ltd., Winnipeg. During the winter months he was fond of league bowling and listening in on his Ham radio. After retirement in 1991, Charlie resided in Winnipeg until his passing on November 28, 2000. A memorial graveside service and interment was held December 4 at the Arrow River Cemetery. Scott Swanson officiated. Charlie was predeceased by his father Archie C. Hill in 1974; his mother Merle Hill in 1990 and only brother in 1996. Left to mourn his passing are his only sister Anna Jamieson of Roblin; sister-in-law Myrtle Hill of Miniota; seven nieces and nephews and 17 great nieces and nephews.
