HORST BERRES 1940 - 2000 Suddenly, on December 28, 2000 at his residence, Horst passed away at the age of 60 years. Horst was born in Dusseldorf, Germany in 1940. On February 12, 1965 Horst married Gerda Peters, together they had two daughters, Tanja and Verena. In 1971 they came to Canada and he became a licensed brick layer. In 1988 they moved to St. Martin, Man. where Horst and Gerda bought the Ridgeway Lunch and Service. They continued to run their business until February of 2000. In March he retired and enjoyed living at the lake until his untimely death on December 28. He leaves to mourn his wife Gerda of 35 years; daughters, Tanja and husband Ken Madsen and Verena and husband Sean McDougall; granddaughters, Brandy, Stephanie and Jessica; brothers, Gert and Dieter from Germany. He was predeceased by his father in 1973 and his mother in 1988, along with brother Holger in 1988, all of Germany. In accordance with Horsts wishes cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Davis Point Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, Man., R3G 9Z9. Arrangements by Arnason Funeral Home Ltd.
