Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHE VENERABLE JAMES RUSSELL BROWN Born in South Shields, County Durham, England, on November 11, 1919, and died on January 15, 2001 in Burnley, Lancashire, England, following a brief illness. James R. Brown was ordained into the Anglican Priesthood in 1943, and remained in active ministry all his life, serving in churches in England, the United States, and Canada, including St. Matthews, St. Peters and All Saints in Winnipeg. He also had a great interest in theological education, teaching at Nashotah House seminary in Wisconsin, and as Warden of St. Johns College at the University of Manitoba, as well as conducting many courses for the Laity. Jim will be sadly missed by his wife of 54 years, Kay, daughter Elizabeth, son Michael (Nancy) and dog Patti, also well as five sisters and many nieces and nephews in the United Kingdom. A requiem was celebrated in Burnley by Jims cousin, the Right Reverend John Goddard, Bishop of Burnley, on January 18, 2001. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2001 at All Saints Anglican Church at 2:00 p.m. Burial of his ashes will be at Nashotah House at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made the the "Friends of Johns" scholarship fund at St. Johns College, or to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
