ELSIE VASS Peacefully on February 26, 2001, Elsie Vass passed away at the age of 96 years. She had been a resident of East Gate Personal Care Home for the last ten years. She leaves to cherish her memory and stories many friends, especially Carol Hunter (late Randy Schirle), Raymond Schirle (Pam), Tammy Schirle (Patrick) and Robert Schirle (Becky). All her friends will remember the feisty, 410" woman that burst with more energy and independence at 80 than they ever had at 20. She had been born in 1904 at a mere 1 lb. 14 oz. but had survived those first few months of life on the warming shelf of the old wood stove at her parents home in Moison, Man. She resided all her life in Beausejour, working at various ventures which included running a business with her brother Dave. Her outspoken attitude and keen intellect often made one forget her petite stature, for she had the ability to debate issues with passion and conviction. She was a true feminist and never comprehended the meaning of "you cant do that, youre a single woman." She worked everyday of her life and loved every moment of it. She was a loyal and caring friend. She loved the outdoors, especially blueberry picking time when she could wander the bush around Molson and Julius, or taking a road trip in her gold-flecked convertible of her Volkswagon Beetle. She had travelled to her familys ancestral home in Scotland in 1982 and was able to understand the beauty of the sea that her father had spoken of so often. Have a great time Elsie....youre up and running again. We love you. Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 2 at 2:00 p.m. from Beausejour Cemetery. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Beausejour Legion or to the Beausejour Hospital. Russell Funeral Homes Ltd. & Crematorium of Beausejour and Lac du Bonnet in care of arrangements. 1-866-424-6271 (toll free).
