THOMPSON (nee JUSKOW) Peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2001, surrounded by her family at the Riverview Health Centre, Elsie Alexandra Thompson passed away after a short illness at the age of 77. Mom leaves to celebrate her life her three children, son David and Christine Kodak; daughter Joyce and Howard James all of Winnipeg; and son Bob and Kim Kodak of Calgary; and her much beloved six grandchildren, Ashley and Brett Kodak, Simon, Quincy, and Eric James, and Lee Kodak. She is also survived by sister Olga Pancove of Beausejour MB; brother Orest (Rose) of Winnipeg; sisters-in-law, Ivy Peterson, Daisy Gregg, Bertha Thompson, all of Winnipeg, Dorothy Thompson of Edmonton, and Pauline Thompson of Victoria, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Thomas Allan (Baldy) Thompson; parents, Sophia and Samuel Juskow; sister Claudia Byle; mother-in-law Fanny Thompson, and numerous sisters and brothers-in-law. Mom was born and educated in Winnipeg and West St. Paul and was proud of her Ukrainian heritage, resulting in her being bilingual at a very young age. She worked extremely hard to raise and provide for her children and eventually was employed with Burns Meats, and later C.P. Railway. Mom enjoyed gardening, yard work, bingo, and her numerous trips to Las Vegas, and was a long-standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Brooklands/Weston Branch No. 2 Ladies Auxiliary, where she enjoyed many friendships. A very special thank-you for the care and compassion provided to Mom by the staff of 3E Riverview Health Centre, Home Care, and V.O.N. Also to Ivy for always being there for Mom, and special neighbour Jean Thom. Cremation has taken place as per Moms wishes. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 19 at 2:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riverview Health Centre, Cancer Care, MB, Manitoba Lung Association, or a charity of ones choice.
