PAUL PREFONTAINE Paul Prefontaine, aged 69 years, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2001 in Trois Rivieres, Quebec after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Winnipeg in 1932; he was raised in St. Pierre Jolys, Man., and later attended St. Boniface College. Paul was a former teacher, principal and school counsellor in various communities in Manitoba including Winnipegosis, Ste. Rose du Lac, Roblin, Russell, Lorette and Winnipeg. He was a past president of The Societe Franco-Manitoban and The Manitoba School Counsellors Association. Paul was predeceased by his first wife Jacqueline in 1996; his parents, Eugene and Emilie Prefontaine of St. Pierre; his sisters, Helen and Lucille and his brother Raymond. He is survived by his wife Francine of Batiscan, Quebec; his sons, Pierre (Patricia) of Vancouver, Charles of Winnipeg and Greg (Helen) of Nova Scotia; his precious granddaughters, Allyson and Ashton of Nova Scotia and Nicole and Martina of B.C. Paul is also survived by his sister Mariette (Len) of Hillsdale, Ont.; his brothers, Denis and Richard (Joan) of Winnipeg and brothers-in-law, Leo and Ron of Winnipeg and many nieces and nephews. We will miss him. Funeral mass took place in Batiscan R.C. Church in Batiscan, Quebec, Monday, April 16. Interment followed in parish cemetery.
