WILLIAM COLE Peacefully on Sunday, May 13, 2001 at the Grace General Hospital surrounded by family, William Cole left us to mourn his passing. Bill was born the fifth of six children, on March 24, 1935, in Seaham, England and immigrated to Canada in 1955, settling in Winnipeg. After taking Joan for his bride a year later, they raised their family in the Brooklands and finally Charleswood areas. Bill is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joan; sons, Cal (Kim) and Gary (Moira) and his daughter Julie Grass (Doug). Grandchildren Crystal, Tammy, Krystal, Heather, Shannon and Ashley. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Elizabeth and his grandson, Jonathan. "Willy" was a bricklayer by trade who had a great work ethic and was highly respected in the construction industry. A member of the Mason Union, dad retired early due to health reasons. A member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 90, Bill will be sadly missed by many. A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, May 17 at 11:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. We would like to thank Dr. Masek and the caring nursing staff at the Grace General Hospital, 4th floor west for making dad comfortable during his last days. A special thank you to Major Vi Chaulk and Betty Ann for your personal touch, your kindness and compassion during our time of grief means an incredible amount. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6 or CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
