Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT HUGH PORTEOUS On June 12, 2001 Robert Hugh Porteous, aged 73 years, passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg. Left to mourn his passing are Helen, his wife of 51 years; six children, Karen (Harry), Ken (Margaret), Maureen (George), Morley (Donna), Mark (Deanna), Mel (Karen) and Charlie (Janet) whom he always considered another son; 20 grand-children, seven great-grandchildren; his sister Betty (Fred) Tully; and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his parents, Hugh and Alma Porteous. Robert grew up and attended school in Woodlands, MB. He was interested in sports and played baseball on the Argyle team. Robert lived and worked in Winnipeg for a number of years. In 1964 he returned to the original family homestead in Woodlands where he lived until his death. In 1988, after 29 years of service, he retired from the T. Eaton Company. Robert suffered a stroke in 1991 which left his left side paralysed. However, this didnt stop him from getting in his truck and driving out to the field to check out the crop. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 15 at 1:00 p.m. in the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall, Capt. McTaggart will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Georges Cemetery, Woodlands. Sincere thanks to Dr. Maharaj and the nursing staff of 3 West and 3 South, Grace Hospital, for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, should friends and family so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Association or a charity of your choice.
