Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERTHA BEAUCHEMIN Marie Blanche Bertha Beauchemin passed away peacefully in the presence of our Lord on June 26, 2001 at the Fort Garry Care Center. A member of a pioneer family, she was laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery following a celebration of her life at St. Vital Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Dr. Patrick A. Morand presiding. Born March 15, 1907 in St. Charles to Patrice and Sara (Bruce) Beauchemin, Berthas family resided in Charleswood where a park and road honour the family name. She studied music and participated in convent life at an early age. She eventually embarked on a teaching career and for a number of years taught amongst the First Nations people in Northern Ontario. Music, children, and laughter were central to Berthas life. Following her retirement, Bertha returned to Winnipeg where she made significant contributions to local historical societies and to her church. She was predeceased by her parents as well as several brothers and sisters, and leaves to mourn a half-brother and a half-sister, a sister-in-law, step-siblings, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and long-time friends. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff at Fort Garry Care Center for the years of compassion and tender care given both to Bertha and her sister Eleanor. Bertha will be remembered for her service and care for others and for the songs she placed in our hearts. May Gods blessings be upon her. P. Coutu & Co. Funeral Directors 156 Marion Street 949-4864
